Feng Shui Tips for Your Garden

Feng Shui Tips for Your Garden

A garden, despite being found outdoors, is considered to be a main attraction of a home. This is where homeowners can relax and indulge in gardening hobbies or hold casual conversations with guests and family members. For those who believe in the principles of Feng Shui, the garden is among the areas of a home that can be manipulated to harbor positive energy and achieve prosperity in the household.

If you want to bring balance and harmony to your existing environment and attract the things that you are yearning for, it is advisable to focus on your entire environment. Your entire environment includes your garden, the area right outside the boundary, and the interior of your home, so you must apply Feng Shui principles on all of these areas.

In Feng Shui, there is a place for every element and good Feng Shui depends on integrating and balancing all of those elements. To incorporate Feng Shui into your garden or outdoor landscape, it is necessary to include water, metal, fire, wood, and stone. This creates harmony outdoors, and a tranquil and comfortable feeling.

Placing a body of water – such as ponds, pools, or fountains – in the garden is one of the classic features of Feng Shui outdoors. Water is considered to be the universal symbol of abundance, and in order to be effective, there are rules that must be followed, especially regarding its placement. Any body of water increases good energy, but it is important to keep the water clean, clear and fresh. Running water is preferable to stagnant water since the latter attracts destructive energy. It is also  better that the flow of water be towards the house rather than away from it since water represents wealth. These are only some of the rules to be followed when placing water features in your garden.

Since Feng Shui is all about balance and harmony, it makes sense to add other elements to your garden beyond water. You can add a fireplace or grilling area to achieve the element of fire. You can also add items made of stone, such as boulders or statues. For wood, aside from the plants, you can use wooden tables and chairs or wooden beams as along the edges of your flower beds.
