Although we hope it never happens, it is always smart to be prepared to defend ourselves in case we are ever physically attacked. There may be times when we encounter unexpected circumstances in which there is a risk of an attack, hold-up, or other situation that puts our lives in danger. When we know how to defend ourselves, however, we can improve our chances of avoiding injury and escaping safely.
At the Edmond Senior Center, seniors are taught self-defense techniques and practical ways to protect themselves in case someone tries to attack them. Every week, the center offers classes Monday through Friday that teach basic awareness and self-defense tactics geared toward seniors.
The classes are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and are taught by Gene Schulting keeper, a sixth-degree black belt and judo expert. The center is located at 2733 Marilyn Williams Drive.
