Summer heat can be a huge pain, especially when it comes to paying high electric bills due to running the air conditioner in your home. Although air conditioning provides a huge relief, some people can’t afford the costs associated with running it, and they are stuck trying to survive the sweltering heat on their own. A good alternative is to use a box fan, which consumes less energy and still provides enough air to cool you down.

That is why Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) and the Salvation Army are pairing up to give away free box fans to people in need. The goal is to help people escape the heat, so they do not put their health at risk, in a way that allows them to keep their energy consumption and electric bills low. help people reduce their energy consumption.

Free fans are available at the Oklahoma City Salvation Army, starting at 9:00 every morning. Those who want to receive one will need to undergo a quick application process to be sure they qualify.

The Salvation Army is also providing financial assistance to families who may have a hard time paying their electric bills. According to OG&E, there are a significant number of people who are applying for payment arrangements because they cannot pay their bills in full.
